Daiwabo Information System Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as DIS; Head Office: Kita-ku, Osaka City; President: Hiroyuki Matsumoto) has concluded a distributorship agreement with PTC Japan (hereinafter referred to as PTC; Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President and Executive Officer: Tomonobu Kamiya) to help manufacturing companies, which are continuing to increase in number throughout Japan, to facilitate digital transformation (DX) by utilizing 3D data effectively. Throughout Japan, as the first products released under the distributorship agreement, DIS will start to sell PTC’s 3D CAD Creo® and its product lifecycle management (PLM) solution, Windchill®, which is used for the unified management of 3D data and product information.

In Japan, small- and medium-sized manufacturing industries, in particular, are required to accelerate DX to strengthen competitiveness in the global market, sophisticate their operations, and improve productivity. However, they face difficulties in addressing this transformation, such as the persistent use of 2D and the hard copy culture, the disruption of information, and an upsurge in systems. PTC has been supporting the DX of many companies by making the best use of its strengths to construct engineering chains and assuming the roles of planning, development, and production by utilizing 3D data with PLM solutions at the core. Equipped with a sales network and about 19,000 dealers that cover the whole of Japan, DIS has been supplying services, solutions, and information for the IT service business. By using a community-based sales format, it has created a solid cooperation and business support system with sales outlets, group companies, and distribution centers throughout Japan.

DIS and PTC have constructed a collaborative relationship that makes the best use of the strength of each company. They are working together to facilitate operational reforms with the help of digitalization scaled to suit the manufacturing companies in Japan that are the major customers of DIS. Under the distributorship agreement, the two companies are strengthening technological and educational support for dealers across the country in addition to optimally streamlining the development environment. An example is their offering Creo—a 3D CAD solution that can achieve excellent 3D product design in a short time—the Windchill platform, which enables the unified management of such product information as 3D data and parts lists.

Hiroyuki Matsumoto, Representative Director, President of DIS, says, “We are very pleased to have concluded a distributorship agreement with PTC Japan. Responding to the decline in the workforce is one of the tasks on which companies need to place the highest priority. Even in the manufacturing industry, which is one of the mainstays of the Japanese economy, there is a strong need to streamline operations and promote digital transformation. From the viewpoint of product lifecycle management (PLM), we think that the effects of the digital transformation solutions provided by PTC in the manufacturing industry are very significant. We intend to contribute to digital transformation of the Japanese manufacturing industry in collaboration with PTC by using our nationwide sales network.”

Tomonobu Kamiya, President and Executive Officer of PTC Japan, says, “We are very pleased with our conclusion of a distributorship agreement with Daiwabo Information System. It is vital to establish 3D design to realize the digital transformation of our manufacturing industries. With the needs of designers growing more and more, we also need to provide the latest product information and educational systems to raise utilization rates and operation rates inside companies. PTC expects to establish very solid, cooperative relationships between itself and dealers throughout Japan with the support of the abundant knowledge and know-how developed by DIS. It will forge full steam ahead so that the acceleration provided by PTC products will contribute to the digital transformation of regional manufacturing industries.”
