Notice of co-sponsorship of the exhibition: "The Ocean! Where monsters live."

As part of our cultural and social contribution program, Daiwabo Information System will co-sponsor the exhibition: "The Ocean! Where monsters live." The ocean is a place where many creatures have evolved. More than 95% of all creatures became extinct at the boundary between the Paleozoic era and the Mesozoic era. Even at the boundary between the Mesozoic era and the Cenozoic era, many creatures including massive reptiles such as the plesiosaur and ichthyosaur became extinct, and mammals like whales began to appear in the ocean. New creatures succeed the old, as the twin processes of extinction and evolution unfold, without interruption and with ruthless efficiency. This exhibition illustrates the evolution of ocean creatures from 600 million years ago to the present day. Ocean creatures often reveal peculiar, sometimes strange shapes as a result of their adaptation to the ocean, a totally different environment from the land. In that sense, they are truly 'monsters' of the ocean. Through observation of their shape, the exhibition explores how creatures have adapted, and explains the history of biodiversity. It is designed to examine the real meaning of evolution, and discuss what the ocean should look like in the future, from the perspective of diversity and the history of ocean monsters.
