Notice of co-sponsorship of the "Exhibition of the Work of Ryusei Kishida, to Commemorate the 120th Anniversary of His Birth" |
August 8, 2011 |
As part of our cultural and social contribution program, Daiwabo Information System will co-sponsor the "Exhibition of the Work of Ryusei Kishida, to Commemorate the 120th Anniversary of His Birth", organized by the Yomiuri Shimbun. Ryusei Kishida is famous for such important cultural properties as "Portraits of Reiko" and "A Road Cut through a Hill." His masterful portraits, landscapes, and still-lifes are characterized by a faithful pursuit of realism, reflecting his aesthetic sensibility. He remains highly esteemed as one of Japan's painters of genius in the history of modern art. This exhibition introduces many of his most famous landscapes and still-lifes, as well as his series of portraits known as "Kishida's headhunting (Kishida's persistent preference for portraits)." The "Portraits of Reiko", universally known and admired, will also be on exhibit. This is a major retrospective, fitting for the 120th anniversary of the birth of Ryusei Kishida, one of the greatest artists of modern Western paining in Japan. |
