Daiwabo Information System and Intel Corporation
collaborate using UQ WiMAX to provide a broadband environment
for companies and educational institutions



Daiwabo Information System Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as DIS, head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka, President: Yoshihiro Nogami) agreed with Intel Corporation (hereafter referred to as Intel, head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Kazumasa Yoshida) to provide a seamless wireless broadband environment inside and outside buildings to facilitate the use of rich content in companies and educational institutions. Users' convenience will be greatly improved because they will be able to use rich content such as moving images and SaaS type applications anywhere both inside and outside offices and campuses. The two companies will promote business that utilizes the WiMAX service, and will use the launch of the UQ WiMAX service as a good opportunity for business expansion.

The growth in web content capacity and the further miniaturization of devices has led to an increasing demand for a mobile broadband Internet service that can be used over an extended area both inside and outside buildings. WiMAX is a state-of-the-art wireless data technology designed to satisfy this growing demand that has the ability to realize high-speed transmission at several tens of megabits. (*)
The alliance between DIS, which is one of the leading vendors of IT-related products in Japan, and Intel, which develops and markets WiMAX-supporting communication modules, aims to promote sales of the UQ WiMAX service and PCs and information terminals equipped with Intel® Centrino® 2 processors that incorporates Intel's WiMAX-supporting communication module to companies and educational institutions. This will provide offices and campuses with an environment in which to use rich content both inside and outside buildings. The provision of the WiMAX infrastructure is expected to help companies to increase their competitiveness and educational institutions to develop excellent human resources.
 
<Collaborative business activities>

DIS and Intel collaborate in the following business activities.

DIS and Intel collaborate to promote the sale of PCs and information terminals equipped with an Intel® Centrino® 2 processor that incorporates Intel's WiMAX-supporting communication module.
DIS offers seminars and training workshops to its sales bases and sales partners to teach the advantages of PCs and information terminals that incorporate a WiMAX-supporting communication module, and Intel helps DIS plan, organize, and deliver them.
Intel extends technological assistance to DIS as regards WiMAX and WiMAX-supporting communication modules.
Intel helps DIS establish relationships with hardware and software vendors in the course of its DIS business activities.

DIS and Intel described the collaboration as follows:

Yoshihiro Nogami, President of DIS, said, "We are very pleased with the collaboration with Intel.
