Daiwabo Information System Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as DIS, head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka, President: Hirokazu Matsumoto) and Intel Corporation (hereafter referred to as Intel, Tokyo head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Kazumasa Yoshida) have agreed to combine to spread the use of low power consumption computer products, such as PCs and servers, which contribute to reducing the environmental load. It is becoming increasingly important for companies to find ways to deal with environmental issues. As this trend has grown, the promotion of green IT by introducing energy saving IT devices and reducing the environmental load through efficient IT utilization has gained momentum. The alliance between DIS, which is one of Japan's leading vendors of IT products, and Intel, which is an IT company eager to help overcome environmental issues, is intended to promote the sales of business PCs and servers employing Intel processors that provide high levels of performance and excellent power efficiency. These PCs and servers are expected to enhance the power efficiency of IT devices and reduce the power consumption required for corporate activities. 1. | DIS and Intel will cooperate to promote sales of business PCs that incorporate excellent power efficient vPro™ Technology Intel® Core™ 2 processors or vPro™ Technology Intel® Centrino®, and servers with quad-core Intel® Xeon® processors. |
2. | DIS will hold green IT proposal seminars and workshops to promote the advantages of IT devices with excellent power efficiency to its sales bases and sales partners nationwide, and Intel will help DIS with its these seminars and workshops by planning them, giving lectures and demonstrating the technology |
3. | Intel will assist DIS with its efforts to build relationships with PC vendors and software vendors alike. |
4. | Intel will provide technological support with the sale of PCs that incorporate Intel processors with their excellent power efficiency. |
DIS and Intel provided the following comments on the alliance. Hirokazu Matsumoto, President of DIS, said, "DIS is very pleased with the alliance between DIS and Intel. DIS sells IT-related products including PCs and servers, and has an approximately 8.6 %(*1) share of PC sales and an approximately 11.5 %(*2) share of PC server sales in the domestic market. The alliance with Intel is very effective in promoting computer products incorporating Intel's state-of-the-art microprocessors, which offer both high performance and the ability to reduce power consumption.
