Clara Online and Daiwabo Information System in Sales Tie-up for "Linux Security Update Service Enterprise" |
Clara Online (Headquarters: Nagoya, CEO: Kentaro Iemoto) and Daiwabo
Information System (DIS, Headquarters: Osaka, CEO: Hirokazu Matsumoto)
announced a sales tie-up that will have Daiwabo Information System selling
the "Linux Security Update Service Enterprise" provided by
Clara Online. In this tie-up, DIS will operate as a general dealer of Linux Security Update Service Enterprise, using their nationwide network of sales points and approximate 10,000 cooperating sales outlets to aggressively sell the product to Red Hat®Linux users across the country. |
Linux Security Update Service Enterprise is a packaged product that
adds "Qloc Engine", an automatic patch driver made by Qwanty
Corporation, to Clara Online's "Linux Security Update Service"
that provides patch programs for debugging Red Hat®Linux. Using the
automatic patch acquisition and application agents of Qloc Engine, the
patches provided by Linux Security Update Service can be automatically
and efficiently applied to anywhere from 1 to over 1,000 servers. Before, when a security hole was discovered in software such as Red Hat®Linux and the software company provided a patch for it, the system administrator had to apply the patch one by one to each individual server that ran the software. Using the functions of Qloc Engine, Linux Security Update Service Enterprise can automatically execute the whole series of operations that the system administrator had to perform from patch acquisition to application, simultaneously and in a short amount of time for multiple servers. Also, with options (sold separately), users can efficiently distribute and apply patches not just for LinuxOS such as Red Hat®Linux but also for all types of application software. DIS and Clara Online believe that Linux Security Update Service Enterprise will be widely used by SOHO, SIer and IDC (internet data center) that run multiple Linux servers. In this tie-up, DIS will operate as a general dealer of Linux Security Update Service Enterprise, using their nationwide network of sales points and approximate 10,000 cooperating sales outlets to aggressively sell the product to Red Hat®Linux users across the country. It is also planned for DIS Technical Service, which is responsible for support and service in the DIS Group, to provide support centered on a help desk to users who introduce the new product. The planned price of Linux Security Update Service Enterprise is Yen52,000 per server. DIS forecasts sales of Yen100 million for the first year. (Supplement)
