Along with the April 2001 revision to the Industrial Waste Law,
there are plans to apply information technology (IT) to electronic
manifest systems and such systems are expected to gain popularity
as the best method to prevent unlawful dumping.
DIS Technology Systems has been involved in the popularization of
electronic manifest systems from the beginning by setting up demonstration
booths, creating environments for terminals, and providing a wide
range of technical support.
Recently Japan Waste Network's electronic manifest system protocol
in EDI format was made available to the public. In response to this
development, DIS Technology Systems developed new software for inputting
data to the manifest system and creating and printing the necessary
documents for billing and other communications and is offering the
new software in ASP (application service provider) form.
The most striking feature of the new ASP system is the comprehensive
support provided to users regarding such areas as the installation,
use, and maintenance of computer equipment. The friendly staff of
the PHONEephone support service can help with issues ranging from
industrial waste laws and the manifest system to everyday computer
problems.
In order to provide an ASP with strong regional connections, servers
will be installed sequentially in seven bases throughout Japan starting
in April 2001. Installation work will take place first in Fukuoka
and then proceed to Okayama, Osaka, Nagoya, Tokyo, Sendai, and Sapporo.
DIS Technical Service aims to provide a comprehensive array of tailored
services, including data entry.
