Notice of Co-sponsorship of "Renoir: Tradition and Innovation" Exhibition
March 18, 2010

Under its cultural and social contribution program, Daiwabo Information System is co-sponsoring the "Renoir: Tradition and Innovation" exhibition to be held under the auspices of Yomiuri Shimbun.

This exhibition features Pierre-Auguste Renoir, a master of the impressionist school. On show are about 80 of his paintings, including the two landmark works "Nude in the Water" and "Girl in a Lace Hat."

Renoir began painting as part of an avant-garde movement named the Impressionist school. Through these works, the exhibition aims to introduce Renoir's constant efforts to find the perfection of beauty in the struggle between traditional painting and modernistic innovation without resigning himself to a successful career as a classical portrait artist. It also introduces the latest scientific knowledge we have on Renoir's techniques, as disclosed by an optical survey conducted in conjunction with the exhibition.
