|August 25, 2009|
|As part of our cultural and social contribution program, Daiwabo Information System will co-sponsor "Treasures of the Habsburg Monarchy" organized by the Yomiuri Shimbun.
In commemoration of the 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Austro-Hungarian Empire, this exhibition will display approximately 120 masterpieces featuring the Hapsburgs carefully selected from the collections housed at the Kunsthistorisches Museum, in Vienna, Austria and the Budapest Museum of Fine Arts in Hungary. Exhibits include paintings by court painters, artworks, and imperial armor produced between the 16th and 18th century that will impress visitors with the power and gorgeousness of European aristocrats.
In addition, scrapbooks and gold relief lacquer ware presented by Japan to the Austro-Hungarian Empire as tokens of friendship will return to Japan for the first time for public exhibition.
