Daiwabo Information System Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as DIS; Head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka; President: Yoshihiro Nogami) has decided to provide the “DIS concierge service for transition from Windows Server 2003,” as of October 20, 2014, to support its roughly 17,000 dealers across the country in their efforts to submit proposals to small- and medium-sized companies nationwide, for replacing servers compatible with Windows Server 2003.

As previously announced, Microsoft will end the support period for Windows Server 2003 on July 15, 2015, in Japan (July 14, 2015, in the U.S.), in accordance with its Support Lifecycle policy. Using servers compatible with Windows Server 2003 after the support period ends involves security risks, in addition to the obsolescence of related hardware due to the fact that servers compatible with Windows Server 2003 were mostly introduced more than five years ago.

Replacing Windows Server 2003-compatible servers with those compatible with the latest software, such as Windows Server 2012 R2, and transitioning existing systems to the rapidly expanding cloud services, are becoming increasingly prevalent in the market, in order to address the issues above. At the same time, reviews of in-company business continuity plans (BCPs) and security measures are becoming increasingly common.

We have launched the “DIS concierge service for transition from Windows Server 2003” to respond to these needs, and to help our dealers in their efforts to make proposals to facilitate the replacement of servers compatible with Windows Server 2003, through our 90 sales bases across the country.

Specifically, we provide information on relevant server transition scenarios, and on products and services made available through such transition, in response to inquiries we receive from our dealers, through such means as on-site consultation for those involved in server transition, information about transition to cloud service (Microsoft Azure), and business solution information provided through iDATEN, our portal site for the business to business (BtoB) system.

We will continue proposing solutions that utilize such cloud services as Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Office 365, to satisfy the diverse needs of our customers in the future.

Managing Executive Officer, SMS &P
Microsoft Japan Co., Ltd.

We welcome the launch of the “DIS concierge service for transition from Windows Server 2003.”

Microsoft Japan has designated the period from January 29, 2014, to July 15, 2015 (both Japan Time), as the Support Period for Server Transition, and has established a system to provide various forms of support for transition from Windows Server 2003 to the latest servers and the cloud environment. During this period, we provide consultation on transition plans, introduce appropriate partner companies who address such customer requirements as transition work and reduction of transition costs, and provide proposals for achieving the smoothest, most suitable transition possible, including on-site and cloud computing.

The concierge service provided by DIS is an effective option for companies planning to transition from Windows Server 2003, currently without consultative support. It offers a host of services, from providing proposals on server solutions to introducing partners. We are confident that it will be a useful aid to companies in completing the transition of their server environments safely and in an integrated manner by incorporating Microsoft Azure and Office 365 as integral parts, in addition to promoting the transition from Windows Server 2003 R2 to the latest Windows server.
